Dominant Weekend For Flyers Prospects

The Philadelphia Flyers have the consensus No.1 ranked prospect pool in the NHL for a reason, and they certainly proved it this weekend.

Flyers prospects in the CHL and NCAA simply tore it up for their respective teams over the past couple of days.

Canadian Hockey League (CHL)

German Rubtsov (C/LW, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, QMJHL):

4 points (1g, 3a) in three games this weekend

Rubtsov has 6 points in 4 games since being acquired in a trade by the Titan. Between his time in Chicoutimi and Acadie-Bathurst this season, Rubtsov has compiled 18 points in 16 games.

Morgan Frost (C, Soo Greyhounds, OHL):

5 points (3g, 2a) in two games this weekend

Frost had an excellent weekend for the Soo Greyhounds who went 2-0-0 to improve their record to 15-3-2 on the campaign.

24 of Frost’s 27 points this season have been primary, and 63% have come at even strength. Impressive numbers for the Flyers’ 2017 first-round pick.

Isaac Ratcliffe (LW, Guelph Storm, OHL):

5 points (3g, 2a) in two games this weekend

The big power forward was off to a relatively slow start offensively prior to this weekend. Hopefully, Ratcliffe’s recent offensive outburst can help his offensive production rise moving forward.

Matthew Strome (LW, Hamilton Bulldogs, OHL):

6 points (3g, 3a) in two games this weekend

Matthew Strome had a monster weekend for the Hamilton Bulldogs. He notched back-to-back three-point games and is now up to 16 points in 17 games this season following a slow start.

Connor Bunnaman (LW, Kitchener Rangers, OHL):

2 points (2g, 0a) in two games this weekend

Connor Bunnaman didn’t exactly tear it up this weekend as opposed to other Flyers prospects. However, the 2016 fourth-round pick has goals in 4-straight games and is on a six-game point streak.

Anthony Salinitri (C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL):

4 points (3g, 1a) in two games this weekend

Salinitri came into this weekend with just two points in his last 8 games. The speedy forward snapped out of that slump in a big way this weekend. Salinitri now has 19 points in 20 games this season.

Carter Hart (G, Everett Silvertips, WHL):

1.50GAA, .941sv%, 1 SO in two games this weekend

Carter Hart has shown no sign of lingering effects since returning from a case of mononucleosis. Hart posted a 28-save shutout for the Silvertips on Saturday. Four days earlier, he blanked Team Russia at the CHL Canada-Russia Series with a 20-save performance.

NCAA

Cooper Marody (C, Michigan, Big-10):

4 points (0g, 4a) in two games this weekend

For whatever reason, Cooper Marody has flown under the radar despite consistently racking up points. He is tied for seventh in the NCAA in scoring and has registered six consecutive multi-point games as Michigan’s No.1 center.

Tanner Laczynski (RW, Ohio State, Big-10)

3 points (1g, 2a) in two games this weekend

Laczynski’s 32 points in 34 games last season as a freshman was extremely impressive for a sixth-round pick. He has continued a similar pace early on this season, with 13 points in his first twelve games for Ohio State.

Terrance Amorosa (LHD, Clarkson, ECAC):

2 points (1g, 1a) in two games this weekend

Now a senior, Amorosa’s offensive ability from the back-end is starting to shine. The 2013 sixth-round pick has 11 points in twelve games this season to go along with a plus-6 rating.

Wyatt Kalynuk (LHD, Wisconsin, Big-10):

2 points (1g, 1a) in two games this weekend

Kalynuk scored his first career collegiate goal on Friday in Wisconsin’s 6-3 victory over Michigan State. His 7 points in thirteen games has been a pleasant surprise for the freshman blueliner.
