The Flyers return home after a victorious road trip looking to continue their climb in the Metropolitan division by beating the Devils. The trip was not all good, however, as Brian Elliott went down with another lower-body injury, leaving the Flyers fate in the hands of Michal Neuvirth.

First period: The Flyers struck right out of the gate as Konecny buried a breakaway goal that was set up by a beautiful backhand cross-ice pass just 1:54 into the period. The rest of the period was choppy thanks to questionable calls from the refs, but both teams were perfect on the penalty kill.

Second period: The flood gates opened up as both teams combined for six goals. Hall opened the Devils scoring with a goal from the goal line that squeaked past Neuvirth. Hall got crushed into the boards by Gudas after the goal and didn’t return in the second period. 43 seconds later, Laughton answered back tipping in a pass from Raffl.

Gudas was the next to get in on the scoring as his point shot found the back of the net, though it was redirected by a Devils defenseman. Moore scored a laser from the point to bring the Devils back within one. Giroux snuck a puck through the pads of Kinkaid on the powerplay, but just 10 seconds later Hischier immediately scored for the Devils keeping it a one-goal game as the second period came to a close.

Third period: a much more relaxed period as both teams played it safe. Hall tied the game with 1:21 left with a six-on-five advantage.

Overtime: It was a general three-on-three overtime as both goalies had to make big saves to keep their team in it.

Shootout:  Weal- denied        Palmieri- denied

                           Konecny- denied    Stafford- scores

Voracek- denied

Takeaways: What a wild game. The Flyers seemed to have control of most of this game, but failed to hang on to a two-goal lead twice. This certainly wasn’t the game they wanted to blow the lead, as the Devils are their main opponent in the playoff hunt right now.
