Philly is Reviews: Game 62- The Under Mandogs

The Flyers start a three-game road trip in Ottawa on a 10-game point streak (8-0-2). They can’t take their foot off the gas despite this game being the start of a full week without facing a team in the current playoff picture.

First period: The Flyers set the tone out of the gate as Provorov scored just 28 seconds into the period. Seven minutes later Hagg forces a turnover, then snipes his second NHL goal. The Flyers then played some sloppy hockey in he second half of the period, and the Senators would capitalize on the powerplay as Hoffman scored as his shot deflected off of Provorov. The Senators held all the momentum as the period came to a close, but still trailed 2-1.

Second period: The Senators still held the early momentum as the period crept along. Zack Smith hammered a rebound past Mrazek, but after a coaches challenge by Hakstol, it showed the Senators were offsides, keeping the game 2-1. Philly started to play much better as the period came to an end.

Third period: The Flyers took back control as Brandon Manning put the Flyers on his shoulders and lead the way. He would set up a Giroux breakaway goal that was absolutely filthy.  Then would blast one from the point that was redirected by Nolan Patrick, to extend Patrick’s goal streak to four games.

Manning shot the puck off the glass, Anderson went behind the net to play the puck, but the puck would take a strange boune off the boards into the back of the empty net. Dzingel would snipe one from the top of the circle late in the game. Duchene would bury a rebound as the Flyers were just going throught the motions, but it was too little to late for the Senators as the Flyers win 5-3.

Takeaways: Yet another carzy rollercoaster of a game for the Flyers. Definitly not a 60 minute effort, but the offensive outburst was nice. The potential for this team is huge right now and if they can learn to play a full game, they will be just fine heading towards the playoffs.
