With the Arizona Coyotes winning in overtime last night, the Philadelphia Flyers and their 59 points are currently sitting in a position for a top 5 pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Done purposely or not, the Flyers are right where they need to be. Expectations going into the season were that the team would be a bottom-dweller and it is currently playing out that way right in front of our eyes.

The Flyers may be tougher to play against, but they are still finding themselves within reach of a top 5 pick, which ultimately, is one of the best things that could happen this season given the circumstances.

I give John Tortorella a lot of credit for this season, especially because the lack of talent, ownership not knowing how to operate, Chuck Fletcher being fired, etc. No coach was going to come into this situation in Philadelphia and thrive the first season.

With 15 games left in the season, all eyes will be on the Flyers, Ducks, Blackhawks, Sharks and Blue Jackets. The race for Connor Bedard is going to heat up very quickly. Stay-tuned!

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
